A Squid Ate My Towel

I've got a bit of a headache at the moment, which I blame partly on lack of sleep and partly on my late meals the past couple of days. Considering I've been a most dilatory blogger in the past few weeks, I suppose I should provide an overall account of what's been happening ever since that day, let's see... ack, 13 days ago. I at least have a good idea of the past 5 days, which leaves 8 days of somewhat blurry memory, though I remember at least 5 of those days, which leaves 3 of uncertainty, unless I'm wrong and I do remember them after all. Well then, let's start from the time after making that list... if it was 13 days ago, then it was the first of several days of procrastination. You see, I haven't got a room in the University due to a bunch of reasons, foremost being a system that gives priority to pretty much every year except mine, and even then discriminates within my year itself. I'll be very enthusiastic about the triple-room arrangement if it w

Well, so I'm in Singapore now. In fact I've been here since Tuesday evening, just never quite got around to blogging; I'm quite an incredible procrastinator in that regard, or really in any other regard, and the past few days just proves it: if I'd been on schedule, I'd be living out of a box right now. As it is my room is still full of stuff that the schedule says should be in boxes; but since I'm getting the boxes tomorrow and the packing should go smoothly from thereon, I think I'll be just fine. In any case the toughest bit--throwing stuff away--is over with, I did it yesterday (instead of on Thursday like planned). The listing was easy enough, and then I converted it to a Paint file so I could just select and drag the items around instead of Tabbing a lot to cut-and-paste their names into the appropriate area. And this is more or less the list. I organised it according to where the items were placed, since I thought it'd make it easier for me when l

Triple Delayed and the Usefulness of Wireless Internet

I'm in the Gorillas' house now; it's Sunday night and I'm quite tired so this will probably be the last thing I do before going to sleep and waking up to my many tasks tomorrow. The trip from Fifth Hun to here was relatively uneventful apart from its incredible inconvenience to several people besides myself; foremost of those being Claus and my poor Coconut, who (I'm pretty sure) didn't get very much sleep on Friday night/Saturday morning. Of course they say they didn't mind, but I know (and the Coconut has said as much) that inconveniencing others is a rather poor way to start off a return trip. True, I didn't book the flight and I certainly didn't delay them and I didn't expect to miss the last bus, but anyway... Flying from Fifth Hun to Shenzhen was nothing special. I checked in, bade the family a pretty emotionless farewell (I try very hard to keep goodbyes to a minimum of time), and boarded the plane on schedule. We also touched down at Shen

Hrrrm. I just realised my stay in Fifth Hun is very nearly over: tomorrow will be my packing-day and the day on which I register for the subjects of the next semester, and then I still have to get at my dad for money. How very annoying... I don't know why, but asking people for large sums of money always leaves me extremely self-conscious for days; at least, doing it in person does. It'd be all so much more convenient and easier on my nerves if we could just arrange some sort of rough guideline--say, a fixed sum of money every semester for the tuition fees and accomodation, wherever that might be, and then a smaller sum periodically for living expenses. I don't know why he insists on making me plan out an estimated amount of money every semester, which I've always had to tell him is wildly unreliable and probably won't work out, mostly because I can't predict the future at all and so I don't know how much money I might have to use. Life is... well, life. Up
