Hmm. Not Much To Say.

Holidays, it turns out, are surprisingly boring. Apart from the luxury of rolling around one's bed all day, there really isn't very much to do when one is without computer or radio or other devices of entertainment. Which, you see, is why I'm putting up two posts in the same week.

Well, actually it's because yesterday's post seems, on reflection, to be rather full of Niche. Wrapping up that little tale, he's gone back and I'll probably never see him again, or his hamsters. He left behind a little note, finally acknowledging his inability to change any aspect of my behaviour through guilt or nagging, and stating that I'm simply extraordinary. I would send him back a similar note, except that I've never tried to use guilt or nagging on him. (Incidentally, I'm probably immune to both these forms of manipulation by now, since I've already gone through lots of both.)

Anyway, I pass now to happier topics. Well, relatively happier anyway.

I think it was last week. Or something around then... sometime before the Biology papers, in any case... Well, I and a few friends went to watch Casino Royale. Apparently it's about Bond's first-ever mission on the firled after turning into a double-0.

(Double-0's tend to have a short lifespan, according to the film, which rather goes against the sheer length of the series.)

In any case, it does require a little stretching of one's credulity, since Bond doesn't fit at all the profile of any competent spy (like, say, keeping one's mouth shut). And he's not at all discreet... But I suppose if he manages to survive then he probably has a little smidgen of skill somewhere in there.

He's not the typical pretty-boy Bond, I guess. Like my sister said, it's not an eye-candy film... he looks more like a prize fighter than anything else, and the haircut even supports that description. And his fists probably move more than his brain...but then, what kind of movie would it be without the hero jumping around and getting a little bloodied up?

(Unfortunately, the fact that it's a prequel made very clear that the hero couldn't possibly die or lose or anything, which removed a lot of suspense.)

So I kinda enjoyed the movie, although the plot twist was rather given away from the sheer length of the feel-good portion of the movie: the bit where the hero and girlfriend go frolicking in the waters of Venice and all that. Not very professional. And it was a little too predictable that a betrayal should occur, and that the woman would die, because it sets the stage for his future promiscuity.

At least it's the only film where he doesn't order a shaken-not-stirred martini.

And that's the end of the review.

I played MapleStory last night for the first time in quite awhile, and I finally managed to meet the requirements to advance my character to the second job (which took quite awhile to sink into me). So now I'm a level-30 Ice/Lightning Wizard. It's cool (rather literally, I'm afraid), and I must say the skill graphics are definitely attractive.

Now the only problem is that I've got a lot of farming ahead of me, but I'm not too worried about that since I've got a few quests to get through and I might as well do them while I'm wandering around looking for Showa Town, which doesn't appear anywhere on the world map.

And I'm also looking for a way to get a version of Real Messenger onto my pendrive that works... so far the ones I get all complain that they can't find certain files in the C directory, and it's not nice to be unable to go online.

And, of course, I want FF3 badly. I just want to finish the thing (and hear Kefka's laugh, which is pricelessly soprano).
